What You'll Do
Tax Technology & Data Management
- Own and evolve the tax data mart in Snowflake — managing SQL logic, table joins, and the promotion of data from silver to gold layers — and define a clear data strategy for tax reporting.
- Build and maintain reporting layers that keep data accurate and consistent between source systems (D365, Salesforce, Vertex O Series) and Sigma dashboards.
- Own systems integration across the tax technology stack, including D365, Salesforce, Vertex O Series, Sigma, and Snowflake, ensuring data flows cleanly between platforms.
- Lead e-invoicing enablement and related system configuration as a key technology priority.
- Support Vertex O Series administration, including configuration and migration workstreams.
- Leverage AI and emerging technologies to improve workflows, documentation, research, and team productivity.
- Support reporting, testing, documentation, and change management related to tax technology initiatives, including Alteryx workflows.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & Stakeholder Engagement
- Serve as a dynamic, go-to partner across Tax, Finance, IT, and Business Systems — proactively building relationships and staying plugged into what each team needs.
- Translate business and tax requirements into technical solutions, and technical constraints back into terms tax and finance stakeholders can act on.
- Bring project management discipline to cross-functional initiatives with unclear or shifting requirements, keeping delivery moving in a fast-paced environment.
- Support global tax operations across a complex international environment spanning manufacturing and SaaS business models.
Work Location
Hybrid presence based near our US Hubs - Boston, San Francisco, Seattle, New York City or Scottsdale. This role follows a hybrid schedule. We rely on in-person collaboration and ask that team members work onsite Tuesdays through Fridays, with the flexibility to work remotely on Mondays, unless there is an approved workplace accommodation. We believe that connection fuels innovation, and our in-office culture is designed to foster meaningful teamwork, mentorship, and shared success.
What You Bring
- 8+ years of relevant experience in data analytics, systems/business analysis, tax technology, or finance technology — a senior data analyst or systems analyst background is a strong fit.
- Intermediate-to-advanced SQL: not just query writing, but schema awareness, joins, and troubleshooting data pipeline issues.
- Experience building or maintaining a data mart or reporting layer, ideally in Snowflake.
- Sigma or similar BI tool experience — dashboard development, administration, or both.
- Systems integration knowledge across ERP/CRM/tax platforms (D365, Salesforce, Vertex O Series, or similar).
- E-invoicing experience is ideal but trainable.
- Alteryx experience a plus.
- Familiarity with AI platforms such as ChatGPT, Cursor, Claude, or similar tools — active usage preferred.
- Complementary experience across the broader tax/finance tech stack rather than deep expertise in any single system.
- Working knowledge of sales order-to-cash processes and tax calculation concepts; sales/indirect tax experience is ideal
- Strong project management and cross-functional collaboration skills in a fast-paced organization.
- A dynamic, self-directed team player with the aptitude to quickly learn new and emerging software, tax rules, and legislation.
- Systems architecture and problem-solving mindset - required.

About this role
Axon is seeking a Senior Manager for Tax Technology to own the technical backbone of their tax operations—a role that sits at the intersection of data engineering, systems integration, and cross-functional leadership. This is hands-on technical work paired with significant stakeholder engagement; you'll translate business requirements into data solutions and vice versa, bringing project discipline to initiatives with shifting requirements.
The ideal candidate has 8+ years in data analytics, systems analysis, or finance technology, with intermediate-to-advanced SQL and proven experience building or maintaining data marts—ideally in Snowflake. You'll need working knowledge of ERP/CRM/tax platforms, familiarity with BI tools like Sigma, and a systems architecture mindset. E-invoicing and Alteryx experience are valued; comfort with AI tools like ChatGPT or Claude is expected. Beyond technical chops, you need strong project management skills and the ability to move quickly in a fast-paced environment while supporting global tax operations.
