About this role
LAPORTE, a 25-year-old consulting engineering firm with a strong North American and European presence, is looking for an experienced architect to join its Pharmaceutical Industry Group in Raleigh-Durham on a hybrid basis. You'd work on design and documentation for state-of-the-art laboratory and manufacturing facilities serving leading pharmaceutical and biotech companies, collaborating across internal disciplines (process, mechanical, electrical, automation) and external consultants. The role requires you to move projects from conceptual layouts through permitting and construction documentation, with responsibility for technical quality, coordination, and clear communication of design intent to clients and internal teams.
This position suits someone with at least five years of professional architectural experience, a bachelor's degree in architecture with licensure (or actively pursuing it), and expert-level Revit skills. You should be comfortable working independently and as part of a team, managing multiple projects simultaneously, and taking on leadership of architectural scope when needed. Experience with industrial manufacturing or laboratory facilities is preferred, as is familiarity with Bluebeam and a solid grasp of building codes and accessibility standards. Beyond design work, you'll participate in construction administration, quality assurance review of junior staff output, and support business development efforts.
