Description
ABOUT NEXGEN CLOUD
NexGen Cloud is a fast-growing GPU cloud and AI infrastructure business. We're the company behind Hyperstack — a self-serve, on-demand cloud platform built for high-performance AI, HPC, and compute-heavy workloads. Powered by 100% renewable energy and NVIDIA architecture, Hyperstack gives teams from AI startups to enterprise the compute they need, without the cost or complexity of legacy cloud.
We move fast, solve hard problems, and build things that matter. If you want ownership, real impact, and a front-row seat to one of the most consequential infrastructure shifts of the decade — this is the place.
THE ROLE: DATA CENTRE DEPLOYMENT LEAD
We're building GPU clusters across multiple international regions, and none of that capacity reaches customers until it's racked, cabled, commissioned and handed over. Our Senior Deployment Lead owns the pipeline but can't be on every site at once, so we need a senior onsite authority who can lead each build and hold every region to the same standard.
This is a role for someone who's happiest on the data centre floor making the call, not waiting for one. You'll lead a team of 3–5 Deployment Engineers through each build, catch problems at planning before hardware lands, and hand over sites that Operations can run from day two. Expect around 50% international travel, remote-first in between.
WHAT YOU'LL BE DOING
Rather than a checklist, here's what success in this role actually looks like:
- Own each site as the onsite decision-maker, leading Deployment Engineers day to day, directing contractors safely, and escalating only what genuinely sits beyond onsite authority.
- Collaborate closely with the Senior Deployment Lead, Network Engineering, Procurement & Supply Chain, and Data Centre Operations/NOC to take every build from validated design to clean handover.
- Validate design plans and BOMs before hardware arrives, checking space, power, cooling, weight and interoperability (optics, AOC, DAC) so issues are fixed at planning, not on site.
- Produce and validate structured and fibre cabling designs, including length estimates, oversee cable pathing, and run cabling QC so every install matches the design before sign-off.
- Oversee racking and installation of GPU servers and network hardware, support fabric installation and cutover, and make sure commissioning meets the agreed acceptance criteria.
- Define and enforce the deployment standards every region builds to — rack, cabling, labelling and documentation — and hand over every site with complete as-built records.
- Run post-deployment reviews, turn the findings into better workflows, and develop your engineers so the team takes on more of each build over time.
ABOUT YOU
We care more about how you think and work than a perfect CV. You'll likely bring a combination of the following:
Essential:
- Experience leading a technical deployment team on site — allocating work and acting as the onsite authority, not just the most experienced engineer on the crew.
- Advanced structured and fibre cabling experience, including producing designs, estimating lengths and running QC.
- Experience creating and reviewing BOMs against space, power, cooling, weight and interoperability, including optics, AOC and DAC.
- Significant data centre deployment experience, with strong network and server hardware knowledge, and a track record of writing or enforcing standards and documentation others followed.
- Willingness to travel internationally around 50% of the time (sometimes at short notice, for days or weeks at a time), and fluent English with clear written reporting.
Nice to Have:
- GPU or HPC cluster build experience, ideally including InfiniBand and fat-tree or rail-optimised fabric designs.
- Experience leading a multi-person deployment team across more than one country.
- Scripting experience, for example Python.

About this role
NexGen Cloud is scaling GPU infrastructure across multiple international regions, and this role puts you in charge of turning validated designs into live, handover-ready data centres. You'll lead a team of 3–5 Deployment Engineers on site, own the decision-making from planning through commissioning, and work across cabling design, hardware validation, racking, and fabric installation. The work sits at the intersection of technical depth and leadership — you're not just the most experienced engineer present, but the person directing the build, catching problems before hardware arrives, and holding every region to the same standard. Around half your time involves international travel, sometimes at short notice; the rest is remote.
This suits someone with significant data centre deployment experience who's comfortable in a leadership position on the floor. You'll need advanced structured and fibre cabling skills (design, length estimation, QC), strong knowledge of server and network hardware, and a track record of creating and enforcing standards that others actually follow. Experience with BOMs, power and cooling validation, and optics or DAC interoperability is essential. GPU or HPC cluster builds, multi-country team leadership, and Python scripting are valuable but not required.
NexGen Cloud offers competitive salary with discretionary bonus, 25 days holiday, private medical insurance, enhanced pension, and genuine autonomy to shape how deployments work. The role offers real ownership in a fast-growing company building critical infrastructure at scale.
