About this role
Working as a public relations intern for the Chesapeake Baysox puts you at the center of a minor league baseball operation owned by Attain Sports, a sports management company built around community engagement and player development. You'll support the Creative Media and Broadcasting Manager across the full spectrum of PR and media relations work—from fielding journalist inquiries and coordinating coverage to producing game recaps, press releases, and social media content. The role spans both behind-the-scenes operations (maintaining rosters, stat packs, media guides, and website updates) and visible game-day work (managing in-stadium signage, assisting media in the press box, and executing postgame social media).
This is an unpaid internship that runs April through September, with the understanding that you'll work long hours during the season, including nights, weekends, and some holidays. You'll need proficiency in Microsoft Office and Adobe Creative Suite, strong time management to juggle multiple projects, and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment. The role also includes optional broadcast work—co-hosting radio programming, conducting interviews, or providing play-by-play commentary—depending on your experience and interest.
The position suits someone pursuing a degree in communications, public relations, or a related field who can earn academic credit for the internship and is genuinely interested in sports media operations. If you're looking to build hands-on experience in PR, media relations, and sports broadcasting while supporting a professional baseball team, this offers real exposure to how those functions work in practice.
