About this role

Wallbrook's Business Intelligence team is looking for a researcher who can combine fluent Japanese language skills with investigative expertise to support due diligence and corporate intelligence work. You'd be based in London on a hybrid arrangement, conducting open source and human intelligence research, synthesizing findings into clear reports and briefings for senior clients, and managing investigations from proposal through delivery. The role suits someone with 1–4 years of post-graduate experience in corporate intelligence, investigative journalism, or similar research-driven fields, who is comfortable navigating financial and legal concepts and can work methodically through complex, multifaceted projects.

The position demands strong analytical writing, fluency in both English and Japanese for commercial purposes, and hands-on familiarity with research tools like LexisNexis and Factiva. Beyond technical skills, you'll need genuine curiosity about international business and geopolitics, the ability to work independently and collaboratively, and resilience under deadline pressure. As you settle in, you may also mentor newer team members and contribute to developing source networks in regions where you have expertise.
