Key Responsibilities
- Production:
- Preparing and plating food
- Handling of packed food goods
- Packing amenity kits and flight condiments
- Equipment:
- Stacking shelves
- Rotation of stock
- Re-ordering of dry stock
- Wash:
- General cleaning
- Waste removal
- Washing airline equipment to industry standards
- Search and Seal:
- Inspecting goods ensuring there is no prohibited items
- Checking stock for any damages
- Completion of paperwork
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
- Be able to handle pork and alcohol products
- Be prepared to stand for long periods of time and have good mobility
- Be prepared to work in a chilled environment
- Have a basic understanding of English

About this role
Dnata Catering UK is hiring seasonal General Assistants at its Edinburgh facility to support the preparation and delivery of inflight catering for major airlines. The role involves rotating through different operational areas—production (food preparation and plating), equipment management (stock rotation and shelf stocking), wash operations (cleaning airline equipment to industry standards), and search and seal duties (inspecting goods for prohibited items and damage). You'll be part of a fast-paced team responsible for ensuring catering and goods reach airline customers on schedule.
The position requires physical stamina, as you'll be standing for extended periods and working in chilled environments. You must be comfortable handling pork and alcohol products and have a basic grasp of English. The pay is £13.20 per hour, and the role is full-time and in-office at the Edinburgh location.
