About this role
Google Fiber's Technical Operations Manager role oversees the vendor management and field execution side of fiber installation and repair work. You'd manage day-to-day vendor tickets, purchase orders, and invoicing while forecasting capacity to keep installations on schedule. The position also requires direct customer contact to resolve installation issues, approve field estimates, and handle escalations—balancing vendor performance with service quality and safety compliance across Quality Inspections and Health and Safety standards.
This role suits someone with at least three years of vendor management experience in telecommunications or fiber infrastructure projects, ideally with exposure to FTTx operations and outside plant work. A bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, business, telecommunications, or equivalent hands-on experience is required. You'll need strong analytical skills to track vendor and operational performance, collaborative instincts to work across departments, and the ability to troubleshoot and improve processes in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Certifications like Lean Six Sigma or PMP, familiarity with CAD and GIS systems, and prior experience managing technician or installer teams would strengthen your candidacy.
The position is full-time, in-office in City, Missouri, with an on-call component as needed. Salary ranges from $84,000 to $102,000 plus bonus, cash award, and benefits. Note that this role does not offer immigration sponsorship.
