Description

About Zinc
Zinc builds candidate screening and compliance tools for recruiters and regulated employers. Our customers use us to make hiring decisions that are fast, accurate and defensible.

The role
We're hiring a Key Account Manager for our mixed enterprise market portfolio of around 15 accounts, each starting at ARR of £100k+. You will be working with some of our top level clients, and they get our most white-glove service. This is not a sector-specific role. Your portfolio will span industries such as healthcare, education, finance, professional services, retail and tech. What these accounts share is commercial complexity and growth potential, not a sector.

You will be running as a top operator, in charge of retaining your clients and building the relationship with each one. You will carry full commercial ownership of a complex portfolio, including renewals, pricing, expansion and risk. You'll be the first call when something goes wrong, the person who spots the opportunity before the client does, and the internal voice that makes sure your clients are heard across Zinc.

If you've been running your accounts like a business owner rather than a relationship manager, this is the right next move.

Why this role
You'll join a small, senior pod at the centre of Zinc's growth. Our biggest customers are where the company is investing, and the enterprise book is growing. You'll have direct access to leadership and real influence on how we serve enterprise customers, including shaping our Crème Experience Strategy rather than inheriting a finished playbook.

We run on data and AI. You'll work with live account health signals, usage data and AI tooling, so you spend your time on judgement and relationships, not admin. Our early-warning model is designed to catch risk before it becomes churn, and our pay structure rewards retention and the behaviours that drive it.

You'll work with a lead who has done the job and is invested in your growth. There's a visible path into more senior enterprise roles as the function scales.

Key Responsibilities

  • A portfolio of mixed market accounts (starting at £100k+ ARR) with full accountability for retention and NRR growth.
  • Renewal and expansion conversations led end to end, including pricing, contract terms and commercial negotiation.
  • Proactive account health management. You track leading indicators and don't wait for the client to flag something.
  • Senior stakeholder relationships built on commercial insight and delivery.
  • Internal advocacy for your clients. When something needs to move, you mobilise the right people across Customer Support, Product and Operations and drive it to resolution. You don't relay the problem, you own the outcome.
  • Championing the Zinc product with conviction. When clients push back, you engage rather than deflect.
  • A structured feedback loop from your portfolio into Product, Customer Support and leadership.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

  • Commercial ownership. You treat your portfolio like a business. You know the ARR, renewal dates, risk signals and expansion opportunity for every account because that's how you think.
  • Internal champion. When a client has a problem, you own it internally. You bring the right people together, drive the resolution and keep the client informed throughout.
  • Product conviction. You know the product well enough to back it. When a client questions a feature, a price or a roadmap decision, you explain the why, hold the line where it's right to, and feed genuine insight back to the teams building it.
  • Internal confidence. When the answer internally is no and it needs to be yes, you build the case. You know who to talk to, what argument moves them, and when to push and when to hold.
  • Relationship depth. Your clients call you first, because you're useful. You understand their business well enough to advise, not just respond.
  • Commercial negotiation. You've led pricing and contract discussions end to end. You've held the line under procurement pressure and known when to flex.
  • Proactive thinking. Flat accounts make you curious, not comfortable. You run diagnostics before there's a trigger event.

About this role

Zinc is looking for someone to own a portfolio of 15+ enterprise accounts, each generating £100k+ in annual revenue across diverse sectors including healthcare, finance, tech and retail. You'd manage the full commercial lifecycle—renewals, pricing negotiations, expansion opportunities and risk—while serving as the primary point of contact for some of Zinc's most strategically important customers. This role demands someone who thinks like a business owner about their book, not a relationship manager passing problems along.

The work suits people who thrive on commercial accountability and internal influence. You'll have direct access to leadership, shape how Zinc serves enterprise customers, and use live account health data and AI tooling to spot risks and opportunities before they escalate. Rather than inheriting a playbook, you'll help define it. Your manager has done the job themselves and is invested in your development, and there's a clear path into more senior enterprise roles as the function grows.

You need genuine product conviction, the ability to negotiate pricing and contracts end to end, and the judgment to know when to push internally and when to hold the line. The role pays £60,000 base plus £30,000 bonus, with hybrid working from London, 24 days holiday, enhanced parental leave, and perks including early finish Fridays and 30 days to work from anywhere annually.
