About this role

Suncorp's Consumer Insurance Pricing & Analytics team is looking for someone to spend the next 12 months developing and refining pricing models for natural perils—flood, cyclone, bushfire, hail, storm, earthquake, and related risks. You'd work at the intersection of data science, catastrophe modelling, and insurance claims insights, building models that assess risk at both individual address and portfolio level. The role involves not just model development but also monitoring their real-world performance, analysing business impact across new business, renewals, retention, and reinsurance outcomes, and translating your findings into clear recommendations for senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams.

This role suits someone with a quantitative background—a degree in statistics, mathematics, finance, actuarial studies, or a related discipline—and ideally some prior experience in insurance, analytics, pricing, or risk. If you're an early-career analyst with strong academic credentials and solid analytical skills, you're encouraged to apply. You'll need hands-on capability with tools like Python, R, SAS, Excel, and SQL, plus the ability to communicate complex technical work to both technical and non-technical audiences. The position is based in Sydney and requires in-office attendance.
