About this role
Kestra Medical Technologies is seeking a Systems Engineering Manager to lead technical strategy and execution for wearable cardiac medical devices in their Kirkland office. This is a hands-on leadership role that combines people management with direct engineering contributions across the full product development lifecycle—from architecture and requirements through verification and validation. You'll oversee a small systems engineering team while actively participating in risk management, system integration, and cross-functional coordination with clinical, regulatory, and business stakeholders to translate complex requirements into compliant medical device solutions.
The ideal candidate brings at least 10 years of engineering experience in a relevant discipline, proven success leading cross-functional teams, and demonstrated expertise in requirements development, traceability, risk management, and verification. Medical device experience is strongly preferred, particularly familiarity with FDA design controls and international standards like ISO 14971, IEC 60601, and IEC 62304. You'll need strong communication skills to navigate both technical and organizational challenges, along with the judgment to advise teams on systems engineering tools and processes while maintaining quality and schedule discipline.
This is a contract position requiring in-office presence in Kirkland, with occasional travel (roughly 10%) and the flexibility to work extended hours when needed. The role suits someone who thrives in regulated environments, values continuous improvement, and can balance strategic leadership with hands-on technical problem-solving in a mission-driven medical technology setting.
