About this role
Ascension's Pharmacy Technician Advocate role focuses on removing medication access barriers for patients by managing patient assistance programs, prior authorizations, and benefit investigations. Working remotely from Indianapolis, you would serve as the central point of contact between patients, pharmacists, prescribers, specialty pharmacies, and external assistance organizations, handling the full lifecycle of assistance applications—from eligibility verification and documentation review through approval tracking and case coordination. The work demands strong organizational skills, attention to regulatory and privacy requirements, and the ability to work independently while managing multiple patient cases.
You'll need current pharmacy technician certification from either the National Healthcare Association or PTCB, plus at least one year of hands-on experience in patient assistance programs, grants, foundations, prior authorizations, pharmacy benefit management, formulary assistance, or 340B programs. A high school diploma or equivalent satisfies the education requirement if you don't have the certification already. State licensure in Indiana is preferred. This role suits someone who is detail-oriented, comfortable with documentation and follow-up workflows, and motivated by directly solving access problems for patients navigating complex medication coverage systems.
