About this role
Howard Air's Fleet Maintenance Associate role centers on keeping the company's HVAC service vehicles operational and field-ready. You'll handle routine inspections, preventative maintenance like oil changes and fluid checks, basic repairs, and vehicle outfitting—deciding what can be handled in-house versus when to coordinate with outside vendors. The job also involves managing maintenance records, fuel cards, fleet keys, and newer systems like GPS tracking and vehicle cameras. You'll work Monday through Friday, 6:30 AM to 3:00 PM with rotating Saturday shifts, split between office, shop, and fleet yard environments where you'll regularly inspect vehicles, occasionally lift up to 50 pounds, and work around shop noise and fumes.
The role suits someone with automotive or fleet maintenance background—three or more years is preferred but not required—who has solid organizational skills and can manage multiple priorities independently. You'll need a valid driver's license with a clean record, basic computer competency, and the ability to communicate vehicle issues clearly to management and coordinate with technicians and vendors. Experience with fleet management software or vehicle tracking systems is a plus but not essential.
Howard Air offers competitive pay between $18 and $25 per hour, medical, dental, vision and life insurance, a 401(k) with partial company match, paid vacation and holidays, and ongoing training and development opportunities. The company emphasizes a supportive, team-oriented environment and positions itself as a leader in the HVAC industry with strong tools and facilities.
