Play a critical role in supporting our people, strengthening delivery consistency, and helping guide the growth of our civil engineering capabilities across transmission and distribution projects. This position is well suited for someone who enjoys mentoring others, influencing team culture, and connecting day-to-day project work to broader business and client goals while remaining technically fluent in civil engineering for T&D infrastructure.

  • Assist with onboarding, coaching, and professional development of team members.
  • Support process improvements related to civil design standards, workflows, and quality control.
  • Serve as a point of escalation for team questions related to workload, coordination, or technical challenges.
  • Help team members understand how their work connects to project success, client outcomes, and Olsson’s long-term goals.
  • Collaborate with leadership on hiring needs, succession planning, and long-term team growth.

Qualifications

  • Working collaboratively with others.
  • Having ownership in the work you do.

  • Four years of experience supervising.
  • Solid understanding of project delivery, coordination with multidisciplinary teams, and quality expectations.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to build trust with team members and project partners.

About this role

Leading a civil engineering team at Olsson means stepping into a role that balances technical expertise with genuine people management. You'd oversee a group of civil engineers and designers working on transmission and distribution infrastructure projects, with responsibility for their professional growth, workload coordination, and day-to-day support. The position requires you to stay technically fluent in civil design—grading, drainage, foundations, site development—while helping your team connect their work to broader project and client outcomes.

This opportunity suits someone with at least eight years of civil engineering experience and four years of supervisory background who is genuinely interested in developing as a leader. You'd partner with project managers on resource planning, champion process improvements in design standards and quality control, and help shape how the team grows. Olsson emphasizes a people-centric culture, so the role rewards those who enjoy mentoring, building trust, and fostering collaboration across multidisciplinary teams.

Based in Denver and full-time in-office, the position offers a salary range of $144,000 to $198,000, along with a 401(k) match, health and wellness benefits, paid time off, and participation in a performance bonus system. This is a role for someone ready to invest in their leadership skills while maintaining connection to the technical work that drew them to civil engineering in the first place.
