About this role
Sploot Veterinary Care's Chicago urgent care and general practice clinic is looking for a licensed veterinary technician who wants to practice quality medicine without the burnout. You'd work flexible 10–12 hour shifts with predictable scheduling six weeks in advance—no overnights—alongside a well-staffed nursing team that maintains a favorable nurse-to-veterinarian ratio. The clinic emphasizes both clinical excellence and work-life balance, with modern tools like laparoscopic surgery capabilities and AI scribe software to streamline your day.
Your responsibilities would span the full scope of vet tech work: surgical support and anesthesia monitoring, diagnostics and lab work, client communication, and clinic operations. You'd handle a balanced mix of urgent cases and wellness visits, with thorough pre-visit triage that means you're always prepared. The role values team collaboration and a proactive mindset in a fast-paced environment, and there's room to develop expertise in areas like dentistry or anesthesia if those interest you.
This position suits someone with at least one year of vet tech experience and a current Illinois license (RVT, CVT, or LVT). Emergency or urgent care background is valued but not required. Beyond the $26–$32 hourly range and holiday pay, Sploot offers comprehensive benefits including health, dental, and vision coverage with strong employer contribution, annual CE reimbursement, PTO from day one, generous parental and bereavement leave, and employee pet discounts. You'll also receive free scrubs and have access to mental health and financial counseling through their EAP.
