About this role
Rocket EMS is seeking an experienced AOI/AXI operator for its Carson City facility to work the second shift (2:30 PM–11:00 PM). You'll operate and program automated optical and X-ray inspection systems to verify that PCB assemblies meet strict quality standards, with particular focus on detecting defects in complex components like BGAs and QFNs. The role demands strong knowledge of IPC-A-610 standards, the ability to interpret inspection data and images accurately, and the judgment to halt production when systemic issues arise. You'll also document results, raise technical inquiries for discrepancies, and communicate findings to supervisors and engineers.
This is a contract position suited for someone with at least two years of hands-on AOI/AXI experience in electronics manufacturing and current IPC-A-610 and/or J-STD-001 certification. You'll need proficiency with inspection equipment from vendors like Koh Young or YXLON, comfort reading blueprints and BOMs, and solid written and verbal communication skills. The work is detail-intensive and production-focused, requiring you to catch subtle defects while maintaining pace in a fast-moving environment.
The position offers a salary of $22–$26 per hour, 401(k) matching, medical/dental/vision coverage, and paid time off. Hours are Monday–Friday with overtime and weekend work as needed. Note that access to export-controlled technical data may be required, and a background check will be conducted following a conditional offer.
