About this role

DV Trading is looking for a Data Center Engineer Intern to spend the summer working directly with the physical infrastructure that powers a global proprietary trading firm. You'll move beyond theory into hands-on experience with enterprise servers, storage systems, networking equipment, and the full lifecycle of datacenter deployment—from procurement and staging through installation, cabling, testing, and production. Working alongside senior engineers, you'll learn structured cabling practices, power distribution, rack layouts, and the redundancy and reliability principles that keep trading operations running.

The internship suits someone pursuing a degree in Computer Science, IT, or a related field who expects to graduate by Summer 2028 and has genuine interest in datacenter engineering. You should have working familiarity with major server platforms (HP, IBM, Dell), Cisco networking gear, and cabling standards (CAT5/6 and fiber optics), plus basic competency troubleshooting Windows and Linux systems. The role demands full-time presence at DV's Chicago office and strong communication skills alongside careful attention to detail and problem-solving ability.

The position pays $40 per hour and offers a concrete look at how infrastructure engineering operates at a trading firm with global operations across North America, Europe, and Asia.
