About this role
Ascension's pediatric respiratory therapy role in Austin combines direct clinical care with family-centered support for children with respiratory conditions. You would evaluate young patients, design individualized treatment plans based on their diagnoses, and deliver specialized respiratory interventions using complex equipment while monitoring vital parameters in real time. The position requires quick decision-making during emergencies—responding to codes and performing critical airway management—alongside ongoing collaboration with multidisciplinary teams to adjust therapies and optimize outcomes. Patient and family education is equally central to the work, helping caregivers understand their child's condition and connecting them to community resources for sustained recovery.
To qualify, you need current Texas Respiratory Care Practitioner and NBRC Registered Respiratory Therapist credentials before your hire date, plus BLS certification within your first month. An associate or technical degree, or equivalent work experience, meets the education requirement. While Advanced Life Support, Neonatal Resuscitation, and Pediatric Advanced Life Support certifications are preferred rather than required, they would strengthen your candidacy for a role focused on pediatric emergency response and specialized neonatal care.
This is a full-time, in-office position within Ascension, a large nonprofit Catholic health system known for supporting its workforce and recognized among the best places to work in healthcare.
