About this role

Waggoner Engineering is seeking a licensed civil engineer to lead its stormwater discipline across the Birmingham and Huntsville offices. You would serve as the technical authority on a full range of services—from detention pond and bridge hydraulics design to watershed master planning and floodplain mapping—while taking ownership of project execution, quality standards, and the technical scope and budgets that support them. This role carries significant management responsibility, including hiring, performance reviews, and staff mentorship in hydraulic modeling and other specialized skills.

The position suits an engineer with 4 to 10+ years of experience and a master's degree in civil or environmental engineering, holding or able to obtain PE licensure in Alabama within four months. Beyond technical delivery, you would identify growth opportunities in the discipline, collaborate with business development on marketing strategy and proposals, and help shape how the firm competes in this service area. The work is in-office in Huntsville, with a base salary of $120,000, a $10,000 signing bonus, and benefits including flexible scheduling, professional development support, and health coverage.
