About this role
Motive is looking for a Senior Security Engineer to establish hardware security practices across its fleet management platform, which serves nearly 100,000 customers. In this role, you'd be the primary security partner to hardware and engineering teams, responsible for designing secure-by-default components, conducting threat modeling and architecture reviews, and building the baseline security processes for Motive's devices—covering everything from boot chains and firmware to manufacturing and device lifecycle management. This is a strategic position focused on scaling security through influence, automation, and enablement rather than individual contributor work alone.
The role requires at least five years of hands-on experience in hardware security, product security design, and development in languages like Python and C/C++. You should have demonstrated expertise in hardware root of trust, secure boot, attestation, key protection, and device identity, along with practical experience validating security controls for low-level system architectures. Knowledge of cloud security, supply chain security, and runtime security practices rounds out the profile. You'll work remotely from Vancouver and earn between $146,000 and $184,000 CAD, with standard benefits including health coverage, paid time off, and retirement contributions.
