Description
About Us:
The Law Office of Bryan Fagan is a firm that excels in family, estate planning & probate, and criminal law matters. We have (11) offices in Texas: (2) offices in Houston (Corporate and River Oaks,) and (1) office in Atascocita, Humble, Kingwood, The Woodlands, Austin, Dallas, San Antonio, Fort Worth, and Humble. Behind every criminal defense case, there's someone keeping it all together — the discovery, the deadlines, the client who's scared and needs a steady voice between hearings. That's this job.
We're looking for a Criminal Paralegal to support our Criminal Defense attorneys from intake through resolution. You'll own the moving parts of each case — files, discovery, court calendars, client communication — so our attorneys can stay focused on strategy and the courtroom. For many of our clients, you'll be the most familiar face at the firm between court dates, which means this role runs on judgment, discretion, and a calm, professional presence just as much as it runs on organization.

- Associate's/Bachelor's degree or paralegal certificate from an ABA-approved program
- 2+ years of criminal defense or prosecution paralegal experience
- Comfort with e-filing systems and local court procedures
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage a full, deadline-driven caseload
- A calm, professional communication style — including with clients who are under real stress
- Sound judgment handling sensitive, confidential information
Benefits
- Competitive Earnings: A base salary commensurate with experience plus earn up to $35K more with our attractive billable hour bonus plan, paid out every paycheck!
- Essentials: 401(k) with up to 5% company match, medical/dental/vision, and full benefits.
- Real Balance: PTO, company holidays, and an earned hybrid option designed to protect your work-life balance and mental health.
- Investment in your success: A full week of training will start you off with success as well as the offer to support CLEs as needed.
- Real Support: You focus on the strategy; our marketing and administrative engine handles the rest.

About this role
The Law Office of Bryan Fagan is seeking a Criminal Paralegal to manage the operational backbone of criminal defense cases across their Texas offices. This role sits at the intersection of meticulous case management and client support — you'll handle discovery organization, court deadlines, pleadings preparation, and e-filing while serving as the steady, familiar contact clients rely on between hearings. The position demands someone who can juggle competing deadlines, flag critical evidence for attorneys, and communicate clearly with clients under genuine stress, all while maintaining strict confidentiality and sound judgment.
You'll need at least two years of criminal defense or prosecution paralegal experience, along with an Associate's degree, Bachelor's degree, or ABA-approved paralegal certificate. Proficiency with e-filing systems and local court procedures is essential, as is the organizational stamina to manage a full caseload in a deadline-driven environment. The firm emphasizes that this role requires as much professional presence and discretion as it does administrative skill.
The firm structures compensation around experience, with a base salary between $40,000 and $80,000 plus a billable hour bonus plan that can add up to $35,000 annually, paid each paycheck. Benefits include a 401(k) with up to 5% company match, medical/dental/vision coverage, PTO, and a hybrid work arrangement designed to support work-life balance. You'll receive a full week of training and support for continuing legal education as needed.
