Why Join Auld & White Constructors?

Position Description
- Lead the company's financial strategy, planning, forecasting, and capital allocation activities to support profitable growth and long-term business objectives.
- Serve as a strategic thought partner to the CEO, providing an independent financial perspective on growth, profitability, risk, capital allocation, talent investment, and long-term value.
- Develop a long-term financial roadmap that aligns balance sheet capacity, compensation, distributions, reinvestment, and growth objectives with the company's long-term interests.
- Lead cash forecasting, working capital strategy, banking relationships, credit facilities, and capital planning, with a focus on billing, capital utilization, and converting project profitability into timely and predictable cash flow.
- Partner with CEO and surety providers to proactively manage bonding capacity and understand the balance sheet, liquidity, working capital, and backlog implications of planned growth.
- Lead annual budgeting, rolling forecasts, scenario planning, and long-range financial planning; establish meaningful KPIs, dashboards, and reporting that provide a forward-looking view of performance.
- Partner with Operations to evaluate project and division performance, including job cost reporting, work-in-progress reporting, backlog, margin trends, change orders, and emerging financial risks.
- Strengthen project forecasting and estimated-cost-to-complete discipline, including early identification of margin fade, cost overruns, change-order exposure, schedule impacts, and other indicators of project risk.
- Provide leadership through the Controller and Finance team while maintaining clear ownership and accountability across the finance function.
- Oversee audit, tax, compliance, insurance, internal controls, and enterprise risk management.
- Improve financial systems, data quality, reporting, automation, and workflow efficiency while ensuring processes and controls can scale without unnecessarily slowing operational decision-making.
- Represent AWC with banks, surety providers, insurers, auditors, and other financial stakeholders
Position Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or a related field required; CPA and/or MBA or comparable advanced credentials strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 15 years of progressive finance and accounting experience, including at least 5 years in a senior financial leadership role with enterprise-level responsibility.
- Demonstrated success leading financial strategy, controls, cash management, forecasting, and overall business performance.
- Experience leading through an experienced Controller and accounting team and developing finance leadership talent and succession depth.
- Strong command of budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, capital planning, banking relationships, audit, tax, insurance, risk management, and internal controls.
- Experience in commercial construction or a comparable project-based business is preferred but not required. The ability to quickly learn AWC's business model is essential.

About this role
Auld & White Constructors is looking for a Chief Financial Officer to lead financial strategy and serve as a key business partner to the CEO and leadership team. You would own enterprise-level financial planning, cash management, capital allocation, and risk oversight while working closely with an experienced Controller and finance team. The role demands someone who can translate complex financial data into actionable insights for non-financial leaders and help the company navigate the specific challenges of project-based construction—managing job costs, bonding capacity, working capital, and margin discipline across multiple concurrent projects.
The ideal candidate brings at least 15 years of progressive finance experience, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role, ideally in construction or another project-based business. You should be comfortable with budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, banking relationships, audit, tax, and internal controls. A CPA or MBA is strongly preferred. Beyond technical expertise, this role requires someone who can balance strategic perspective with attention to detail, communicate clearly across the organization, and help strengthen systems and processes as the company scales.
This is a full-time, in-office position in Jacksonville, Florida. You would be joining a company with a strong operational foundation, an experienced finance team, and a reputation as one of Jacksonville's Best Places to Work—an environment where leadership values collaboration and continuous improvement.
