About this role
FS-Elliott is hiring welders in Pittsburgh to work on precision carbon steel and stainless steel fabrication. The role involves setting up and operating welding equipment, positioning and clamping components to tight tolerances, and performing a range of welds including vertical and overhead work. You'll read blueprints and weld maps to guide your work, inspect finished welds for quality, and handle finishing tasks like grinding and cleaning. The position also includes some basic lathe operation and material tracking, with shifts available on first and second shift.
This is hands-on work that demands precision and attention to detail. You'll need ASME Section IX certification (preferred) and 1–3 months of related welding experience, along with the ability to read AWS welding symbols and use measuring tools accurately. Safe crane operation and rigging knowledge are required, and familiarity with ERP systems like Epicor is a plus. A high school diploma or GED is the baseline education requirement.
The role suits someone with foundational welding skills who is committed to quality and safety and ready to work in a structured manufacturing environment. If you have the certifications and experience in hand and are looking for stable, full-time shop work, this is worth considering.
