About this role
Ascension's pediatric respiratory therapy role in Austin combines direct patient care with clinical leadership in a fast-paced hospital setting. You'll evaluate children with respiratory conditions, design individualized treatment plans, and deliver specialized interventions—from managing life-support equipment to leading resuscitation efforts. The work demands real-time clinical judgment, close collaboration with physicians and nursing staff, and the ability to educate families on ongoing care and recovery resources.
This position requires current Texas respiratory care licensure and NBRC registration before your start date, plus BLS certification within your first month. Advanced certifications in neonatal and pediatric resuscitation are preferred but not required. You'll need either an associate degree plus two years of experience, a high school diploma with two years of respiratory-specific work, or four years of direct experience in the field. If you're a registered respiratory therapist comfortable with pediatric populations and the intensity of acute care, this role offers the opportunity to make a measurable difference in children's clinical outcomes within a large, mission-driven health system.
