Orlando Vets Eastwood is hiring a full-time Veterinary Assistant to work alongside our team of experienced veterinarians, skilled technicians, and devoted support staff to ensure each animal receives the best possible care during their stay with us. Salary: $15.00 - $18.00 per hour, determined by the candidate's skills, experience, and qualifications.
Schedule: Monday- Friday 8AM-5:30 PM, Every other Saturday 8AM-2PM
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist veterinarians and vet techs during examinations, treatments, and surgeries.
- Handle and restrain animals safely and compassionately
- Prepare examination rooms and surgical areas by cleaning and sterilizing equipment and surfaces
- Perform basic laboratory tests, such as collecting blood, urine, and stool samples
- Administer medications and vaccinations under the supervision of a veterinarian
- Feed, bathe, and exercise animals as needed
- Maintain accurate medical records
- Communicate with pet owners about their pets’ care, treatment plans, and follow-up visits
- Clean and maintain the clinic, including stocking supplies and ensuring a safe and sanitary environment
Qualifications:
- At least 1 year of veterinary experience.
- Technical know-how in areas such as disinfection, administering medication, and using diagnostic equipment.
- Physical ability to handle animals safely and compassionately.

About this role
Veterinary Practice Partners' Orlando location is looking for a Veterinary Assistant to support their veterinarians and technicians in delivering care to dogs and cats. You'll handle a mix of clinical and operational tasks: assisting during exams and surgeries, restraining animals, preparing and sterilizing treatment areas, collecting samples, administering medications under supervision, and managing basic lab work. The role also includes animal care duties like feeding and exercise, plus maintaining medical records and communicating with pet owners about their treatment plans.
This position requires at least one year of veterinary experience and hands-on competency with disinfection, medication administration, and diagnostic equipment. You'll need the physical capability and temperament to handle animals safely and compassionately in a fast-paced clinic environment. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5:30 PM, plus every other Saturday from 8 AM to 2 PM.
