COMPANY OVERVIEW
KKR is a leading global investment firm that offers alternative asset management as well as capital markets and insurance solutions. KKR aims to generate attractive investment returns by following a patient and disciplined investment approach, employing world-class people, and supporting growth in its portfolio companies and communities. KKR sponsors investment funds that invest in private equity, credit and real assets and has strategic partners that manage hedge funds. KKR’s insurance subsidiaries offer retirement, life and reinsurance products under the management of Global Atlantic Financial Group. References to KKR’s investments may include the activities of its sponsored funds and insurance subsidiaries.
Role Overview
KKR’s Insurance business is investing to apply AI more deeply across how we operate, spanning investment, actuarial, ALM, finance, and operations workflows. We are targeting an AI Solutions resource working directly into the business to lead that effort on the ground.
This is a hands-on role, bringing a critical thinking / problem solving skill set along with AI and/or engineering skills. Rather than sit in a central technology function, you will embed alongside the teams who do the work, identify the highest-value problems AI can solve, and build and ship the tools that solve them, owning the full arc from discovery to production and scale.
Responsibilities
- Embed directly with Insurance stakeholders: investing, actuarial, ALM, portfolio management, finance, and operations, to surface high-value, AI-addressable problems.
- Build and ship AI / LLM-powered tools and workflows end-to-end: data pipelines, agents and automations, and user-facing applications.
- Re-engineer and automate manual workflows; measure adoption and business impact, then scale what works across the franchise.
- Integrate AI capabilities with internal data, models, and platforms — ensuring solutions are production-grade, secure, and compliant.
- Partner with central data, engineering, and AI teams, acting as the bridge between them and the Insurance business.
- Set the standard for how the Insurance business adopts AI, pragmatically, safely, and at pace.
Qualifications
- 3-5 years building and shipping production software, ideally in a forward-deployed, solutions-engineering, or applied-AI capacity.
- Strong, current hands-on engineering: Python and modern data tooling; practical experience with LLM / AI frameworks (RAG, agents, prompt orchestration) and APIs.
- A demonstrated record of deploying AI / automation that drove measurable business outcomes — not just prototypes.
- A product mindset: comfort with ambiguity, talking directly to users, and owning outcomes end-to-end.
- Excellent communication — able to translate fluidly between technical and business audiences.
- Exposure to financial services, insurance, or asset management strongly preferred; comfort with credit, fixed income, actuarial, or ALM data a clear plus.
- Bias to action, intellectual curiosity, and a strong sense of ownership.

About this role
KKR's Insurance business is building out AI capabilities across investment, actuarial, finance, and operations—and they're looking for someone to embed directly with those teams and make it happen. Rather than sit in a central tech function, you'd work alongside the business stakeholders who do the actual work, identify where AI can solve real problems, and own the full journey from discovery through production and scale.
The role demands hands-on engineering chops: Python, modern data tools, and practical experience with LLMs, RAG, agents, and prompt orchestration. You'd build and ship end-to-end solutions—data pipelines, automations, user-facing applications—then measure impact and scale what works. You'll also integrate these tools with KKR's internal data, models, and platforms while partnering with central data and engineering teams to bridge the gap between them and the business. This requires someone with 3–5 years shipping production software, ideally in applied AI or solutions engineering, plus a demonstrated track record of deploying AI that drove measurable business outcomes, not just prototypes.
Background in financial services, insurance, or asset management is strongly preferred, especially familiarity with credit, fixed income, actuarial, or ALM data. Beyond technical skills, you need a product mindset—comfort with ambiguity, direct user engagement, and owning outcomes end-to-end—plus the ability to communicate fluidly between technical and business audiences. The role is full-time, in-office in Boston, with a salary range of $100,000–$190,000.
