Description

How you’ll make an impact:

As a Senior Analyst on our FP&A team, you will help Strata plan for the future and make informed financial decisions so we can empower the vital missions of our customers. You will support the company’s expense planning, budgeting, forecasting, and performance analysis, partnering closely with the VP of Finance, Accounting, and business leaders. You’ll translate operating activity into clear financial insights, strengthen spending discipline, and help teams manage resources effectively while supporting scalable growth and profitability.

This isn’t just about crunching numbers—it’s about turning expense data into actionable insight for a company operating at the intersection of healthcare and technology. In this role, you will:

  • Maintain and enhance expense forecasting, budgeting, and long-range planning models across departments and cost centers
  • Prepare monthly and quarterly expense reporting, including budget-to-actual and forecast variance analysis, trend commentary, and KPI tracking
  • Partner with department leaders to develop spending forecasts, identify risks and opportunities, and improve cost visibility and accountability
  • Analyze software, infrastructure, commissions, marketing, travel, and other operating expense drivers to support resource allocation decisions
  • Build scenarios and business cases that evaluate spending alternatives, cost savings initiatives, and investment tradeoffs
  • Improve recurring reporting and forecasting processes through standardized templates, automation, and effective use of financial systems
  • Collaborate with Accounting, People, Technology, and other functional teams to ensure expense data is complete, accurate, and aligned

What we’re looking for:

  • 3+ years of progressive finance, FP&A, accounting, or related analytical experience, including meaningful responsibility for expense planning and reporting
  • Strong experience with operating expense forecasting, budgeting, variance analysis, and cost-center reporting; SaaS, technology, or healthcare experience is a plus
  • Advanced Excel and financial modeling skills, with proficiency in financial systems such as NetSuite, Adaptive Insights, or similar platforms
  • Ability to synthesize detailed financial data, identify key drivers, and communicate clear conclusions and recommendations to non-finance stakeholders
  • Strong attention to detail, sound judgment, and a track record of producing accurate, timely analysis in a fast-paced environment
  • Experience using automation, business intelligence, and AI-enabled tools to improve financial reporting and planning processes
  • Collaborative, proactive approach with the ability to manage multiple priorities and work independently while maintaining strong cross-functional relationships
  • Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related field; MBA, CPA, or other relevant certification is a plus

About this role

At Strata Decision Technology, this Senior Analyst role sits at the heart of financial planning for a healthcare-technology company. You'll own expense forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis across departments, translating operating data into insights that guide resource allocation and spending discipline. Working closely with the VP of Finance and business leaders, you'll build and maintain planning models, prepare monthly and quarterly reporting, and develop scenarios to evaluate cost-saving initiatives and investment tradeoffs. The work balances analytical rigor with cross-functional collaboration—you'll need to synthesize complex financial data and communicate findings clearly to non-finance stakeholders.

The ideal candidate brings at least three years of progressive finance or FP&A experience with demonstrated responsibility for expense planning and reporting. You should be proficient in Excel and financial systems like NetSuite or Adaptive Insights, comfortable analyzing operating expense drivers across software, infrastructure, commissions, and marketing, and skilled at identifying opportunities to automate and improve reporting processes. SaaS or healthcare background is valued but not required. Beyond technical skills, this role rewards attention to detail, sound judgment, and a collaborative mindset—you'll manage multiple priorities independently while maintaining strong relationships across Accounting, People, Technology, and other teams.

Based in Chicago with an in-office work arrangement, the position offers a salary range of $85,000 to $110,000 plus variable pay and comprehensive benefits. A bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or related field is expected; advanced credentials like an MBA or CPA are a plus.
