Team Lead Record to Report
Based in Amsterdam, the Record to Report (R2R) team sits within FinOps, further building out the General Ledger (GL) and Tax Accounting function. As Team Lead, you will drive the operational shift from function-based accounting to process-owned streams across Lead-to-Cash and Purchase-to-Pay.
This is a high-scope, hands-on leadership role for someone with a true builder mentality. You will not only coach a team, but actively dive into system architecture, data pipelines, and core processes to lay the foundation for Adyen’s 10X growth strategy.
The team is made up of individuals with diverse skill sets across GL and Tax accounting, and, as such, encompasses a broad set of challenges. As Team Lead, your role is about mentoring and skill development, inspiring action with a clear vision, taking care of and empowering people, and overseeing the team’s processes to achieve its goals.
What you’ll do
People:
- Mentor, coach, and scale a multi-disciplinary team of GL and Tax specialists. Set clear vision, manage resource planning, and foster a high-performance, ownership-driven culture.
- Stakeholder Management: Collaborate across Group Finance (Financial Controlling, Lead to Cash, Purchase to Pay, Payroll, and Tax) and with non-finance stakeholders (Procurement, Legal, Infrastructure, and HR).
- Cross-functional Alignment: Work closely with global leads, operational teams, and the broader finance organization.
Process:
- Drive stream-level automation initiatives across the R2R pipeline to streamline month-end closing, eliminate manual tasks, and ensure complete data accuracy.
- General Ledger Management: Manage GL activities related to operational and capital expenditures (for example, OPEX, CAPEX, Intercompany and leases), as well as revenue and accounts-receivable related accounting (Lead-to-Cash).
- Take an active role in systems and product design, leading the foundational work on data quality to execute complete "touchless tax returns".
- Audit Support: Work together with Financial Controlling; provide support and information to internal and external auditors regarding GL and Tax Accounting data.
- Financial Analysis: Prepare variance analysis during the month-end closing process.
Who you are
- You have at least 6 years of work experience in financial accounting, tax compliance, and reporting within a multinational organization, including leadership experience.
- In-depth expertise across the different areas of financial accounting and reporting and a systems thinking approach to scaling to contribute to Adyen’s Group Finance team.
- Strong people leadership skills to build and lead high-performance teams in an international setup; it is expected that you will coach and develop others in the team, and you are decisive when needed.
- You have exceptional communication skills, able to translate complex topics into easy-to-understand concepts and influence others where necessary to achieving the team’s goals.
- You are detail-oriented and able to maintain a big picture view to help others solve problems and understand finance as a unified data pipeline.
- A high degree of self-motivation, ambitious and hands-on, with an entrepreneurial mindset; a good team player with the ability to engage with people and deliver within tight deadlines within a fast-paced, international environment.
