About this role
Accenture Federal Services is looking for a mid-level analyst to step into deeper cybersecurity work within a federal agency's Security Operations Center. You'll move beyond initial triage to perform Tier II analysis of escalated security events, make judgment calls about incident severity, and contribute to the SOC's detection capabilities. The role involves drafting executive-level incident reports for significant cyber events, updating security procedures to align with DHS and NIST standards, and recommending new detection signatures for SIEM, EDR, and IDS tools.
This position requires at least ten years of related experience plus a bachelor's degree, with a minimum of three years specifically in cybersecurity, risk management, or information systems assessment. You'll need demonstrated knowledge across vulnerability assessment, IPS/IDS, incident response, encryption, and advanced threat protection. One of three certifications is required: CompTIA CySA+, GICSP, or CCNA-Security. Experience tuning detection rules to reduce false positives, familiarity with executive incident report drafting, or prior mentoring of junior analysts would strengthen your candidacy.
The role is full-time and in-office in Leesburg, Virginia, with a salary range of $94,000 to $187,600 depending on location and experience. US citizenship is required.
