About this role
Trilon Group's Construction Engineering Inspection Division is expanding across North Carolina and seeking Transportation Technicians and CEI Bridge Inspectors at all levels to work on roadway and bridge construction projects. You'll be assigned to a home office in Asheboro but spend most of your time at active project sites, where you'll inspect construction for compliance with contract documents and specifications, collect material samples, perform field tests, verify dimensions and quantities, and maintain detailed documentation of progress and findings. The work involves field surveying, construction layout, engineering computations, and direct coordination with project teams to ensure quality and support payment documentation.
This role suits candidates with either four or more years of construction inspection experience (including at least one year in roadway or bridge work) plus a high school diploma, or an Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology with two years of inspection experience. You'll need a valid driver's license, the ability to lift 50 pounds, and willingness to obtain required certifications—which may include QMS Roadway, concrete and density sampling credentials, MOT, and erosion control certifications depending on your assignment. Strong record-keeping, math, written and verbal communication skills, and comfort using computers and tablets are essential; construction surveying experience is preferred.
The position is full-time with a typical 40-hour week, though nights, weekends, holidays, and overtime may be required based on project schedules. You'll work outdoors in all weather, around traffic and construction equipment, with exposure to heights and uneven terrain. Trilon provides a company vehicle, monthly cell phone reimbursement, hands-on training and mentorship, competitive benefits including health and dental coverage, a 401(k) match, tuition reimbursement, and career development paths in both management and technical tracks.
