About this role
Trilon Group's Construction Engineering Inspection Division is expanding across North Carolina and seeking Transportation Technicians and CEI Inspectors at all levels to work on roadway and bridge construction projects. You'll be assigned to a home office in Raleigh but spend most of your time in the field inspecting construction activities, collecting material samples, verifying dimensions and alignment, and documenting progress through daily reports and field records. The work involves both technical fieldwork—surveying, layout, and construction calculations—and administrative tasks using computers and tablets to maintain project data and support payment documentation.
The role suits candidates with either four or more years of construction inspection experience (including at least one year in roadway or bridge work) plus a high school diploma, or an Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology with two years of inspection experience. You'll need a valid driver's license, the ability to lift 50 pounds, and willingness to obtain required certifications such as QMS Roadway, ABC Sampling, or DOT Intermediate MOT depending on your assignment. More experienced inspectors may advance to lead inspector roles and mentor junior technicians.
Trilon provides field support including a company vehicle, monthly cell phone reimbursement of at least $60, and hands-on training for career development. The benefits package includes competitive pay, strong paid time off, 401(k) matching, tuition reimbursement, health and dental coverage, and both management and technical career tracks. Work is primarily outdoors in all weather conditions, with potential for overtime, nights, weekends, and holidays based on construction schedules.
