About this role
px Group has taken over operations of the Shetland Gas Plant and is recruiting an Operations Engineer to provide on-site technical support to this key facility, which processes offshore gas and feeds it into the UK National Grid via pipelines. You would be the primary process expert at the plant, working closely with operations personnel and liaising with the Aberdeen support team to maintain safe and efficient production across wells, subsea facilities, and the processing site itself.
The role demands a degree-level background in engineering or technology, ideally with flow assurance knowledge and hands-on experience in production, maintenance, or operations on both surface and subsea equipment. Your day-to-day work involves investigating production issues, coordinating with specialist vendors, managing technical concerns and safety-related matters, overseeing risk assessments and alarm management reviews, and witnessing critical testing procedures such as well integrity and emergency shutdown system validations. Strong communication is essential, as you'll be the focal point between the Shetland site and the Aberdeen team, producing quality reports and coordinating actions across a multi-disciplinary operation.
This is a contract position based in-office in Shetland, Kentucky. It suits someone with practical engineering experience in regulated, high-hazard environments who can work independently on-site while maintaining effective communication with remote support teams.
