About HumanSignal

Real-world data is the competitive edge in AI.

HumanSignal is a human data partner for companies building AI models and products. Our customers ship better AI, faster, because we partner with their researchers from real-world data creation to annotation to delivery.

We design and create datasets from scratch, recruit and manage the domain experts who evaluate model output, and run everything through our own platform, Label Studio, the open-source standard for data labeling and evaluation, used by over 1 million practitioners worldwide.

We specialize in the operationally complex: real-world data collection, multimodal pipelines, and multi-step workflows. Advanced ML and AI teams use our enterprise platform to run their own data factories, and our services team to extend their reach where in-house capacity runs out.

If you want to do work that materially shapes how the next generation of AI products gets built, we'd love to talk.

You'll help organize scripts, coordinate participants, prepare filming environments, and ensure everything is ready for smooth, efficient production.

This is a hands-on, detail-oriented role that could be a great fit for production assistants, event coordinators, operations professionals, or anyone who enjoys organizing moving parts, anticipating needs, and keeping a busy production running smoothly.

What you’ll do

  • Plan and organize scripts for upcoming sessions, coordinating schedules, participant assignments, and production priorities across the day or week.
  • Track completed, pending, and upcoming scripts and takes, ensuring clear visibility into production progress.

  • Review scripts in advance to identify required props, materials, scene setups, and any specific instructions or compliance requirements.
  • Source, organize, and prepare props and filming environments, including kitchen, bedroom, living room, and other household settings.
  • Review participant bookings and session schedules to ensure the appropriate scripts, environments, and resources are ready.
  • Support on-set execution by managing scene transitions, resetting props, and addressing logistical needs during filming.
  • Work closely with the Director and Tech Ops team to maintain production schedules, resolve issues, and minimize downtime.
  • Maintain accurate session records, track progress against daily production goals, and communicate outstanding tasks or requirements.

Who you are

  • You're highly organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable managing multiple priorities at once.
  • You have strong planning and coordination skills, with the ability to anticipate production needs before they arise.
  • You're proactive, resourceful, and comfortable taking ownership of day-to-day logistics.
  • You can follow detailed scripts, instructions, and production requirements consistently.
  • You communicate clearly and enjoy collaborating with creative and technical teams.
  • You're adaptable and comfortable working in a fast-paced, hands-on filming environment.

The following are essential functions of this field-based role and must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation:

Details

  • Contract Duration: To be confirmed during the recruitment process
  • Up to 40 hours per week

  • Occasional evening and weekend availability required
  • In-person, studio-based role in Hoboken, NJ and surrounding areas

About this role

HumanSignal is recruiting a Scene Assistant to support the production of scripted recording sessions at their Hoboken studio. You'd manage the logistical backbone of daily filming: organizing scripts, coordinating participant schedules, sourcing and preparing props, setting up household environments (kitchens, bedrooms, living rooms), and tracking production progress. The role sits at the intersection of planning and hands-on execution—you'll anticipate what the Director and Tech Ops team need before they ask, then be on set managing scene transitions, resetting props, and solving problems in real time.

This is a contract position suited to people with production, operations, or event coordination experience who thrive on detail work and managing multiple moving parts simultaneously. You'll need to be comfortable standing and walking throughout the day, carrying equipment up to 30 pounds, and occasionally working evenings or weekends. The pay is $20–$30 per hour depending on your background, with hours up to 40 per week. If you're organized, proactive, and enjoy keeping a busy production running smoothly, this could be a solid entry or mid-level role in the production world.
