About this role
CrashPlan is seeking a Senior Rust Developer to build the systems software that powers its data resilience platform. You'll design and maintain high-performance asynchronous applications handling backup, restore, ransomware defence, and data security at scale. The work spans core infrastructure—file discovery, indexing, data transfer, and multi-platform support—with a focus on optimizing memory, CPU, I/O, and network usage for large-scale operations.
This role demands deep systems programming expertise: 6+ years in backend development, at least 3 years shipping production Rust in performance-critical systems, and strong command of async patterns with Tokio, concurrent programming, file I/O, process management, and cross-platform APIs (libc, Windows, POSIX, hypervisor). You'll write unit and integration tests, participate in architecture decisions, collaborate with distributed teams across product, engineering, QA, and DevOps, and thrive in a fast-paced startup environment with quick release cycles.
The position is remote but based in Bangalore with occasional office presence (alternate Saturdays). You'll need comfort with dynamic workloads, flexible hours, and an ownership mindset. Strong problem-solving, debugging skills, and experience in Agile environments are valued.
