About this role

The Low Carbon Contracts Company's Legal Team is seeking a solicitor with up to five years' post-qualification experience to provide legal advice across the organisation's core business areas, including CfD contracts, Capacity Market matters, and emerging schemes such as Carbon Capture and Storage and Low Carbon Hydrogen. You would handle a broad remit spanning contract management, regulatory compliance, procurement, FOI requests, and dispute resolution, working with both internal teams and external legal advisors. The role demands strong analytical and drafting skills alongside the ability to absorb complex contractual and project documentation quickly while maintaining strategic perspective.

This is a permanent position based in Canary Wharf with a hybrid arrangement requiring two days in the office per week, with flexibility for compressed working patterns. The salary ranges from £58,000 to £75,000 depending on experience. You would report to the Head of Legal and work collaboratively across the organisation on significant projects, contributing to the company's strategic goals during a period of expansion into new subsidy schemes. While experience in electricity, renewables, utilities, or public law is desirable, the role welcomes candidates from broader legal backgrounds who demonstrate enthusiasm for learning new legislation and tackling unfamiliar legal challenges.

The benefits package includes a performance-based bonus of up to 10%, 25 days' annual leave plus bank holidays, pension contributions up to 8%, professional development support, enhanced family leave policies, and various wellbeing and lifestyle benefits. Note that applicants must have an independent right to work in the UK; visa sponsorship is not available.
