About this role
TransMarket Group, a Chicago-based proprietary trading firm, is looking for a Junior Data Center/Desktop Engineer to support the physical and operational backbone of their trading infrastructure. You'd split your time between hands-on data center work—racking servers, running cables, testing connections—and managing the trading workstations that keep the operation running. The role sits at the intersection of hardware deployment, inventory management, and vendor coordination, so you'd need comfort moving between technical troubleshooting and administrative tasks like procurement and documentation.
The position calls for 3 to 5 years of IT experience and practical skills with cabling, network equipment, and inventory systems like NetBox. You should be comfortable crimping connectors, testing cables, and diagnosing hardware problems, and willing to work weekends when needed. This is a fully on-site role in Chicago with no remote option, suited for someone who prefers hands-on technical work in a fast-paced environment over desk-based support.
TMG emphasizes a collaborative, learning-focused culture and offers one of the industry's more generous profit-sharing programs for full-time employees, which reflects their approach to sharing success with the team.
