About this role

CFD Research's Engineering Test Center in Hollywood, Alabama is seeking a test engineer to join a growing team supporting defense and aerospace R&D programs. You would contribute across the full development cycle—from conceptual design through prototyping and testing—on projects spanning hypersonic ground testing, propulsion systems, and flight hardware for Army, Air Force, and Navy customers. This is a hands-on role that requires troubleshooting both mechanical and electrical systems, working with instrumentation and control software, and collaborating across a multi-disciplinary team of technicians, machinists, and engineers.

The position requires a bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, or a related engineering field with foundational coursework in fluid mechanics, thermodynamics, and circuits, plus at least one year of prototype and test environment experience. You should be comfortable with instrumentation software such as LabVIEW or Rockwell Automation. Prior exposure to CNC machinery, fabrication processes, and prototype hardware development is valued. U.S. citizenship and the ability to obtain a security clearance are mandatory.

This is a part-time, in-office role. As an ESOP company, CFD Research offers eligible employees access to an employee stock ownership plan and 401(k) matching; part-time staff receive partial or reduced benefits depending on employment status. The company conducts twice-yearly performance reviews with pay increases tied to corporate goals, personal development, and performance.
