THE WORK:
The Director of Product Planning will act as the connection within our product group, converting strategy into a practical, well-ordered plan. This person keeps the product team coordinated, informed, and progressing effectively. This role offers high visibility and influence for someone wanting to engage with the full product organization.
You will not directly own a feature roadmap. Your role is to guide the process that aligns and prioritizes all product leaders’ roadmaps. The metrics themselves are created by our Data Science team. Your responsibility is to manage how these metrics are analyzed, communicated, and formed into a decisive narrative.
WHAT YOU’LL DO:
Roadmap and Prioritization
- Own the end-to-end planning process that turns strategic priorities into a resourced, sequenced roadmap across product lines
- Facilitate tradeoff and prioritization discussions among product leaders, surfacing conflicts and dependencies before they become blockers
- Keep the roadmap current and credible as priorities shift, and make sure changes are communicated clearly to collaborators
- Build and manage the product org's operating rhythm — planning cycles, launch readiness reviews, cross-team syncs, retros
- Own the tooling and systems (e.g., Jira, Linear, Notion) that keep planning artifacts organized and trustworthy as a single source of truth
- Identify and resolve cross-team dependencies and process gaps before they slow down execution
- Partner closely with Data Science, who build and maintain the underlying metrics and dashboards
- Own the reporting layer on top of the data. Pull the right numbers together, synthesize their meaning, and package them into clear, recurring updates for product and company leadership.
- Translate data into recommendations and talking points — not just charts — to inform planning and prioritization decisions
- Serve as a versatile resource for the Senior Director of Product Management, leading cross-organizational initiatives, coordinating process enhancements, or conducting ad hoc analyses
- Represent the product org's planning function in conversations with adjacent teams (engineering, build, legal/compliance, finance) as needed
WHAT YOU'LL BRING:
- 5+ years in product operations, technical program management, chief-of-staff, or a similar cross-functional planning role
- Strong track record running planning/prioritization processes across multiple teams or product lines
- Comfortable working with data and metrics, even if you do not build the underlying pipelines. You know how to ask Data Science the right questions. Then, you turn their output into a story.
- Excellent written and verbal communication; able to synthesize complexity into something leadership can act on quickly
- Highly organized, low-ego, and energized by making other people's work easier and more coherent
- Experience leading or managing a team is a plus, though this role may start as an individual contributor
- Experience in a fast paced, regulated, or high-stakes industry is a plus

About this role
Ripple is looking for a Director of Product Planning to serve as the organizational backbone of its product group—someone who translates company strategy into coordinated, executable roadmaps across multiple product lines. Rather than owning a specific feature roadmap yourself, you'd manage the planning process that keeps all product leaders aligned, surfaces dependencies and tradeoffs early, and adapts as priorities shift. This is a high-visibility role that requires strong facilitation skills, comfort synthesizing data into clear narratives for leadership, and the ability to build and maintain the systems and rhythms that keep a complex product organization moving coherently.
The day-to-day spans roadmap prioritization, cross-functional execution, and metrics reporting. You'll work closely with the Data Science team to turn underlying metrics into actionable insights and recommendations, own the tools and processes that serve as the single source of truth for planning, and identify bottlenecks before they slow execution. You'll also support the Senior Director of Product Management on special initiatives and represent the product org's planning function in conversations with engineering, legal, finance, and other teams.
You should have at least five years in product operations, technical program management, or a similar cross-functional planning role, with a proven track record running prioritization processes across multiple teams. Strong communication and synthesis skills are essential—you need to turn complexity into something leadership can act on quickly. Experience in a regulated or high-stakes industry is valued. The role is based in San Francisco and requires in-office presence, with a salary range of $248,000–$310,000.
