About this role

MEMX operates financial exchanges and is looking for an undergraduate intern to support the physical infrastructure that keeps those systems running. You'd spend one day a week at their data center in North Bergen, New Jersey, and three days at their Midtown Manhattan office, working hands-on with servers, network equipment, and cabling while assisting with inventory, documentation, and routine troubleshooting. The schedule is fixed—Monday evenings at the data center, then standard business hours Tuesday through Friday split between remote work and in-office time—though MEMX notes it may shift based on operational needs.

This role suits someone pursuing IT, computer science, or engineering who wants practical experience in hardware and networking before graduation. You should be entering your junior or senior year, comfortable with technical detail work, and ideally have some coursework or projects involving Linux, networking, or hardware. Beyond the hands-on skills you'll build, you'll get mentorship, access to professional development sessions, and a chance to see how data center teams collaborate with engineering and operations. MEMX also considers strong interns for extensions or full-time roles after graduation.

The position pays $30 per hour and requires you to be a permanent resident of one of MEMX's approved states for remote work eligibility. You must be able to work in person in Manhattan during the summer.
