Description
Beacon Biosignals is transforming precision medicine for the brain, from clinical development to clinical care. For Life Sciences partners, we offer the leading at-home EEG platform for clinical development of novel therapeutics for neurological, psychiatric, and sleep disorders. Our Diagnostics business is building the most comprehensive at-home platform for precision diagnostics, combining EEG and cardiopulmonary signals to deliver reimbursable assessments for sleep and central nervous system disorders. Together, we're changing the way patients are diagnosed and treated for any disorder that affects brain physiology.
As a Senior Mobile App Engineer, you'll help power Beacon's mission by building the cross-platform React Native apps that patients and clinicians use with our EEG headbands and other wearables. Your work will shape how people capture high-fidelity data and how easily they move through clinical trials and at-home diagnostics.
This isn't just another app. You'll build tools that help unlock insights into neurological, psychiatric, and sleep disorders, with the potential to improve lives at scale.
Beacon's robust asynchronous work practices ensure a first-class remote work experience, and we also have in-person office hubs in Boston and New York. For this position we will consider candidates based anywhere in the US Eastern time zone.
What success looks like
As part of our small, mission-driven Mobile Apps Team, you will:
- Lead development of our React Native mobile applications across iOS and Android.
- Design and implement UX workflows for clinical trial participants and at-home diagnostic patients.
- Own the user experience, performance, reliability, and observability of the apps and features you build, using feedback from real users across diverse use cases and environments.
- Work with engineers on our native iOS and Android BLE device SDKs to integrate device capabilities cleanly into the app.
- Partner with our Devices team, other Platform teams, and product designers to build user-centric mobile capabilities deeply integrated with the rest of Beacon's product ecosystem.
- Help shape the roadmap and technical direction of our mobile platform.
In your first 3–6 months, you might:
- Build a new in-app feature to validate EEG signal quality before data capture.
- Streamline onboarding for new patients and trial participants to make our devices easier to use than ever.
- Deploy new features that help our Clinical Operations team track compliance.
- Improve app performance, release reliability, and crash/telemetry visibility across our Expo-based build pipeline.
What you will bring
You'll be a great fit if you have:
- 8+ years of experience in mobile development, including substantial experience shipping and maintaining production React Native apps on both iOS and Android.
- Strong TypeScript skills and familiarity with our stack (React Native, Expo, GitHub).
- Experience with app state management, offline-first data handling, and app store release processes.
- A product mindset: you care deeply about UX, edge cases, and performance.
- Strong communication skills and comfort working in a collaborative, async environment.
Bonus points if you've:
- Integrated BLE peripheral devices into iOS and/or Android applications, or worked with sensor integration or health data streams.
- Written native code (Swift or Kotlin) or built native modules for React Native.
- Worked with medical devices, EEG, or wearables.
- Worked on apps for clinical trials, patients, or another regulated environment.
- Contributed to open source mobile or React Native projects.

About this role
Beacon Biosignals is building at-home EEG and diagnostic platforms that help patients and clinicians detect neurological, psychiatric, and sleep disorders. As a Senior Mobile App Engineer, you'd own the React Native applications—running on iOS and Android—that patients and trial participants use to capture data from wearable devices and move through clinical workflows. This role sits at the intersection of consumer UX and regulated healthcare: you'd design intuitive onboarding, validate signal quality in real time, track compliance, and ensure the apps perform reliably across diverse home environments where clinical-grade data collection happens.
You'd join a small, mission-driven mobile team and work closely with native iOS and Android engineers, device teams, and product designers to integrate BLE capabilities and shape the platform roadmap. The work spans the full stack of mobile concerns—state management, offline-first data handling, app store releases, performance optimization, and observability—with real feedback from users in clinical and diagnostic contexts. Beacon supports remote work across the US Eastern time zone with async practices and office hubs in Boston and New York.
The role expects 8+ years of production mobile experience, strong TypeScript and React Native skills, and a genuine product mindset around UX and edge cases. Prior exposure to BLE integration, native code, medical devices, or clinical trial apps would be valuable. Compensation is $150,000–$190,000 plus equity and benefits.
