About this role

Make-A-Day seeks an Executive Director to lead its mission of supporting Central Ohio residents experiencing homelessness and economic instability. You'll manage the organization's full operations—from executing the Board's strategic direction and overseeing the Stabilize, Restore, and Advance service model to leading fundraising across grants, corporate partnerships, and individual giving. The role demands hands-on leadership of staff and AmeriCorps VISTA members, volunteer program management, financial oversight including 501(c)(3) compliance, and active community representation on housing and justice policy.

This position requires at least five years in social services, housing, or human services, plus five years managing supervisors. You'll need strong budgeting, grant writing, and fundraising experience, alongside comfort working in nontraditional settings—streets, parks, encampments—often outside standard business hours. A bachelor's degree in social work, public administration, or nonprofit leadership is required; an MPA or MSW is preferred. The role particularly values candidates with knowledge of Franklin County's systems, trauma-informed practices, and ideally, lived experience or direct service history with marginalized communities.

The position is based in Columbus and requires in-office presence. The salary range is $80,000–$85,000, with medical, dental, and vision coverage (50% employer-paid), 401(k) with automatic 3% enrollment, unlimited vacation, 13 paid holidays, and professional development support.
