About this role

At NextGen Security, a System Designer bridges sales, engineering, and operations by translating client security needs into fully integrated solutions. You'll design comprehensive systems with detailed specifications, material lists, and labor estimates; create technical documentation including wiring diagrams and network layouts; and present designs to customers and decision-makers. The role also involves hands-on software support during complex system deployments, which may require site visits for initial setup and training, plus oversight responsibilities across the operations team.

This position demands at least five years in the security industry, strong proficiency with design and documentation tools (Bluebeam, Adobe, Visio, MS Project, AutoCAD), and solid network and IT knowledge. Access control and video management certifications—particularly in platforms like Genetec, Milestone, or ProWatch—are highly valued. You'll need to work independently, manage multiple concurrent projects and deadlines, assess client sites to identify requirements and constraints, and communicate technical concepts clearly to both technical teams and end users.

Remote-based in Houston, this is an exempt full-time role where your work directly impacts project viability, installation success, and customer satisfaction. Compensation and a full benefits package are based on your background and experience.
