About this role

Interstates is looking for someone to build their business development presence in the Power Generation sector of the Energy market. Based near Sioux Center, Iowa (or one of their other Midwest/Mountain offices), you'd spend significant time—up to 50% travel—cultivating relationships with owners, engineering-procurement-construction firms, OEMs, and contractors to identify and pursue new opportunities aligned with Interstates' electrical, controls, and automation capabilities. This is a contract role that combines strategic partnership development with hands-on pursuit leadership, from initial client conversations through contract negotiation and handoff to operations.

The role suits someone with 7–10 years in business development, sales, or technical fields within industrial or energy sectors, ideally with existing Power Generation relationships and market knowledge. You'll need strong communication and negotiation skills, the ability to analyze complex business and technical information, and confidence presenting to senior stakeholders. Success means building a robust industry network, developing win strategies for key opportunities, and helping shape Interstates' growth strategy in a priority market alongside their operations leadership.

Interstates offers standard benefits including 401(k) matching, health and dental coverage, paid time off, and bonus incentives, along with career coaching and a collaborative workplace culture centered on safety and integrity.
