About this role
Interstates is looking for someone to build their business development presence in the power generation sector, opening new client relationships and identifying growth opportunities across the Energy market. You'd work from one of their offices in Iowa, South Dakota, Nebraska, or Colorado—or potentially elsewhere if you bring strong Energy industry experience—and spend up to half your time traveling to meet with owners, engineering firms, equipment manufacturers, and strategic partners. The role sits at the intersection of relationship-building and strategy, requiring you to understand client needs, lead proposal teams, develop partnerships, and shepherd opportunities from initial conversation through contract.
This position suits a seasoned business development or sales professional with 7–10 years in industrial fields like electrical services, construction, automation, or energy itself. You'll need genuine Power Generation market knowledge and an established network of industry contacts to hit the ground running. Beyond relationship skills, you'll be expected to analyze market opportunities, negotiate contracts, and communicate Interstates' capabilities clearly to technical and executive audiences. The company values collaboration and integrity, and you'd be working alongside operations leaders to shape how Interstates grows in this priority market.
This is a contract role offering standard benefits including 401(k) matching, health coverage, paid time off, and performance bonuses. If you thrive on opening doors with new clients and have credibility in the power generation space, this offers visible impact on a strategic growth initiative.
