About this role

ON.energy is building grid-safe data centers with proprietary AI UPS technology, and this Houston-based role supports the critical infrastructure that makes that possible. As a Facility Systems Technician, you'll be responsible for the day-to-day operation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of electrical distribution, UPS systems, generators, HVAC, plumbing, controls, and life-safety systems across the company's offices, warehouses, and high-power laboratories. The work spans preventive maintenance, emergency response to power interruptions and equipment failures, diagnostic troubleshooting using schematics and tools, and meticulous documentation of all activities and findings.

This role suits someone with at least three years of hands-on experience in commercial or mission-critical facility maintenance who has a solid foundation in multiple building systems—electrical, mechanical, HVAC, or controls. You'll need to be comfortable reading technical drawings, using diagnostic equipment, performing physical fieldwork, and responding calmly to urgent conditions while adhering strictly to safety protocols including lockout/tagout and electrical safety procedures. Strong communication and digital literacy (work orders, email, Microsoft 365) are essential, and relevant certifications such as EPA Universal, OSHA, trade licenses, or electrical safety training are valued.

Success in the first year means establishing yourself as reliable and safety-conscious, completing rounds and maintenance on schedule, catching abnormal conditions early, and maintaining accurate records that support laboratory and facility operations. ON.energy offers competitive salary with performance-based bonuses, medical/dental/vision insurance, 401(k) matching, paid time off, and professional development opportunities for US-based employees.
