About this role
East Bay Community Action Program is seeking a Teacher Lead to direct daily operations of their after-school program at Pell Elementary School. You'd be responsible for creating and delivering engaging activities—homework help, enrichment lessons, outdoor play, and creative projects—while maintaining a safe, structured environment for elementary-aged students. The role requires you to supervise Teacher Assistants, build relationships with families, track student progress, and work with school staff and external partners to support both academic growth and social-emotional development.
This position suits someone with solid classroom leadership skills, strong communication abilities, and a genuine commitment to working with children in an out-of-school setting. You'll need to juggle multiple responsibilities—planning thematic activities, managing daily routines, handling documentation, and contributing to program quality initiatives—so organizational skills and flexibility are essential. The job calls for at least a high school diploma plus relevant childcare training or experience; specific pathways include a CDA credential, college coursework in early childhood education, or equivalent supervised experience in the field.
The part-time role is based in Pell City and pays between $21 and $26 per hour. It's a good fit if you want hands-on work with school-age children in a community-focused organization, with clear expectations around child development knowledge and the ability to collaborate across school and family partnerships.
