About this role
Stripe is hiring Software Engineers in Seattle to build and maintain the infrastructure that powers payments across their platform. You'd work on distributed systems, data center automation, and the tooling that keeps their cardholder data environment secure and compliant. The role spans technical depth—writing software in Go, Python, and Ruby, managing infrastructure with Terraform and Ansible—and operational responsibility, including on-call support for high-availability systems, mentoring junior engineers, and leading compliance efforts around PCI and SOX standards.
This position requires substantial hands-on experience across multiple domains. You'll need at least two years working with AWS and infrastructure automation, plus demonstrated expertise in reliability engineering, distributed systems, and Linux environments. The compliance and security aspects are central to the work, so familiarity with PCI processes and cloud security practices is essential. Leadership experience mentoring other engineers is also expected.
The role offers a competitive salary range of $190,400 to $285,600 annually, with equity, bonuses, and standard benefits. While based in Seattle, it permits 50% remote work, and Stripe has multiple positions available.
