About this role
ITnova is hiring a Data Engineer to build and maintain data infrastructure for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey's Aviation Data Analytics Warehouse. You'll work with Microsoft Azure services—Synapse Analytics, Data Factory, Azure SQL, and Databricks—to develop ELT pipelines, optimize data processing, and ensure data quality across the system. The role spans the full data lifecycle: designing automated extraction processes, transforming and standardizing data according to governance rules, building reusable transformation frameworks, and creating Power BI semantic models for reporting and dashboards.
This position requires strong hands-on SQL and Microsoft SQL Server skills, along with demonstrated experience building data pipelines and integrating multiple data sources. You'll troubleshoot ingestion failures, manage both serverless and dedicated SQL pools, develop database objects like stored procedures and views, and document technical solutions. A bachelor's degree in a related field is preferred, and you must be a US citizen. The role is fully remote, Monday through Friday, 9 am to 5 pm EST.
The ideal candidate has enterprise data warehouse or lakehouse experience and familiarity with diverse data sources—APIs, batch feeds, streaming, and SFTP transfers.
