Who We Are Looking For

We're seeking experienced PICC RNs with strong, recent vascular access experience. Prior independent PICC insertion experience is required. PICC certification training is not provided for this position.

As a Vascular Access Nurse Consultant, you'll work collaboratively with our customers' clinical teams to resolve venous access issues and support treatment objectives set by the treating physician. Depending on the referral, you may work inside or outside the hospital setting — giving you a unique opportunity to see different treatment protocols and patient challenges across care settings.

If you're looking for a change from 12-hour shifts on your feet or rushing between patients with no time for quality care, this role offers a different pace and focus.

What You'll Do

  • Place PICCs, midlines, and peripheral IVs using ultrasound guidance
  • Utilize ECG technology for PICC tip confirmation
  • Assist with management of PICCs and other vascular access devices

  • American Heart BLS Certification
  • Valid driver's license, active auto insurance, and reliable transportation
  • Ability to work independently and meet scheduling requirements as indicated by job classification
  • Minimum of 3 years of acute care RN experience
  • Must possess a smart phone
  • Must LOVE vascular access

Schedule

  • Per Diem: Minimum of four (4) scheduled shifts per month, with typical shifts approximately 8 hours. Availability to pick up additional shifts as needed. Weekend availability and participation in the holiday rotation are required.
  • Consultants travel to customer facilities as assigned; scheduling requirements vary by job classification

Additional Requirements

About this role

VIC the PICC is seeking an experienced PICC nurse to join their specialized vascular access consulting team serving acute care hospitals, skilled nursing facilities, and home healthcare across the Western and Southern United States. This per diem role places you at the center of complex venous access challenges—inserting PICCs and midlines with ultrasound guidance, managing vascular access devices, performing declotting and line removals, and troubleshooting access issues across different care settings. You'll work independently with hospital and facility clinical teams, using ECG technology for tip confirmation and educating nursing staff on best practices. The role offers a fundamentally different pace from traditional floor nursing: focused, consultative work without the constant rushing between patients.

To succeed here, you need at least three years of acute care RN experience with a strong, recent background in independent PICC insertion using ultrasound. You must also have experience placing ultrasound-guided peripheral IVs and managing vascular access devices. Current RN licensure, BLS certification, a valid driver's license with active insurance, and reliable transportation are non-negotiable. PICC certification training is not provided, so you're expected to arrive with that expertise already in place.

The per diem schedule requires a minimum of four eight-hour shifts monthly with flexibility to pick up additional work, weekend availability, and holiday rotation participation. Compensation ranges from $50 to $70 per hour depending on your experience and certifications. Full-time employees receive comprehensive benefits including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) match, and paid time off; the company also provides vehicle support or mileage reimbursement for travel between sites. This is a good fit if you're passionate about vascular access work and want autonomy with clinical variety, but it demands genuine expertise and comfort working independently across multiple facilities.
