About this role
Interstates is looking for a Data Engineer to build and maintain the data infrastructure that supports dashboards, analytics, and data products across their electrical, controls, and automation business. You'll design ETL/ELT pipelines, integrate and transform data from multiple sources, develop complex SQL queries, and ensure data quality and reliability. The work involves partnering with analysts, developers, and operational teams to translate business needs into technical solutions, with a particular focus on OT, manufacturing, and industrial data systems.
This role calls for strong SQL fundamentals and hands-on experience with data pipelines, data modeling, and data integration. You should be comfortable working through messy or ambiguous data independently, troubleshooting problems, and learning new systems as needed. Python or similar scripting experience is preferred, as is familiarity with time-series and sensor data, manufacturing KPIs, or machine learning workflows—though the core requirement is solid data engineering or analytics engineering background with proven ability to own data quality end-to-end.
The position is hybrid and based near Sioux Falls, Sioux Center, or Cincinnati, with occasional travel up to 10%. You must be authorized to work in the U.S. without visa sponsorship. Interstates is a stable, established company with a collaborative culture, and this role offers the chance to work on real industrial data challenges that power operations across their client base.
