Project Background:
The Science and Technology (S&T) Directorate's mission is to improve homeland security by working with partners (department components, other government agencies, State, local, tribal, and territorial emergency responders and officials) to provide state-of-the-art solutions and/or technology that helps them achieve their missions.
Position Description:
The Internal Controls/Financial Audit position will perform tasks and activities related to financial reporting, use accounting software, and apply general accepted accounting principles, assurance, audit and tasks associated with technical areas such as risk management. This position will examine, analyze, and interpret accounting records to prepare financial statements, give advice, or audit and evaluate statements prepared by others. This position will install or advise on systems of recording costs or other financial and budgetary data.
Required Skills:
- US Citizenship required to obtain security clearance
- BA/BS Degree
- Minimum of 10 years’ with experience in managing and executing complex or technical efforts
- Experience providing advice and counsel to both government and support staff
- Experience developing, formulating, and establishing effective accounting policies and procedures
- Experience generating monthly, quarterly and annual financial reports by using financial management systems

About this role
Teracore, a Service Disabled Veteran Owned Small Business supporting the Department of Homeland Security, is seeking an experienced financial audit professional for a fully on-site role in Washington, DC. You would perform core accounting and audit functions including financial statement preparation and analysis, risk management assessment, and evaluation of accounting records using standard principles and software. The position also involves designing or advising on financial and budgetary data systems, and generating regular financial reports through established management platforms.
This role requires a bachelor's degree and a minimum of ten years' experience managing complex financial or technical initiatives. You should be comfortable advising both government and internal teams, and have a track record of developing accounting policies and procedures. US citizenship is mandatory, as the position requires a security clearance. The work is 100% on-site with no remote flexibility.
